If you've been reading any of the other gear sites today, you're already probably bored to death of people talking about the new iPhone features ol' Steve rolled out this morning, but in case you haven't, here's a stripped down list of this morning's happening without any sickeningly sweet fanboy gushing.
- You can now use VoIP from your iPhone, giving AT&T a swift kick in the wallet (balls) every time you do.
- There is finally a real IM client.
- Multitouch games are coming, including titles from big makers like EA and Sega.
- Corporate types got their wish and the iPhone will do push e-mail and calendars for Exchange servers.
- The Software Development Kit (that's SDK if you prefer nerd-speak) is now available, which means lots of new apps are on their way to be distibuted through the app store. Most of them will really suck, but some of them will be awesome.
- The update will be free in June for iPhone peeps, but iPod Touch users will be getting screwed out of another $20 for it.
So, there you have it. The update fixes some of my major bitching points and might be enough to push some people over the edge when it comes to dropping loot for one.
